'Call Of Duty: Black Ops - Escalation' Map Pack Release?
"Call of Duty: Black Ops" continues to be one of the most popular online games to play even now, five months after its release. Activision promised that 2011 would be a big year for add-on content for the game, and fans have already been serviced with one map pack, "First Strike." We all know that another is coming soon, and today brings the first indication of when: May 3.
The information comes from a flyer discovered by VG247 on the website of UK retailer GAME. The pack, called Escalation, will be coming to Xbox 360 first and the date listed is May 3, 2011. For those who are confused by the header image -- which lists the date as "03.05.201" -- day goes before month in other parts of the world, such as the United Kingdom.
The flyer appears to indicate that the upcoming pack will include four competitive multiplayer maps and one zombie map. The four maps are apparently called
"Zoo," "Hotel," "Convoy" and "Stockpile," and the zombie map is
"Call of the Dead."
We brought you word of an in-game easter egg found on the multiplayer map Firing Range which seems to indicate that some kind of "CoD" zombie-related announcement, apparently for something called
"Quarantine," is coming on April 7.
I had been kind of figuring that the second map pack would be announced on that date. The fact that GAME had a copy of the flyer seems to support that, since we're now only days away, though the mention on
Firing Range of "Quarantine" doesn't line up with any of the map names that were seemingly revealed today.
No matter though. Until/unless we hear differently, it's pretty clear that this flyer is legit. No price yet, but it's a safe bet that it'll be 1200 MS Points, just like previous packs. With five maps though, the value gets considerably better.
